BEDA #30

Final blog of April!

I've really enjoyed doing BEDA. Actually, I lie, sometimes it was boring and tedious. But I just read back all my posts and it made me really glad that I did it. I had such an awesome April in hindsight. I'm going to Blog Every Day Of May (BEDOM, yes I made it up :D) aswell :D Not because I think anyone wants to read a blog a day from me, but because I think it is pretty invaluable leaving an actual legacy of a period of time. Even if it is just for myself. I don't want to blog every day of my life, I just think that bearing in mind SO MUCH is going to happen in the next month, it could be a good idea. It will be interesting to see how my outlook changes as the month progresses. I finish school on May 28th. At the moment I am SO EXCITED about it, and there is not one element of sadness or dread in my mind about it at all. I wonder if that will change. This is why I want to blog every day in May. Will be good to look back on!

Hope everyone had a brilliant April. Despite mine being flecked with some pretty low moods every now and again (which I'm sure is more than evident in a few of my posts), I've also had some of the best days I can remember ever. So glad I have this to re-read as many times as I want, so I will never forget them (:

See you tomorrow for the start of BEDOM! xxx

BEDA #26 & #27

I couldn't blog yesterday. This is why. This is my yesterday.

After finally getting to sleep (we were too excited xD) at 3am, the alarm clock rang at 6am. After many struggles to make me wake up, Joe resorted to picking up the airbed from underneath me and tipping me off of it onto his bedroom floor. I was up.

We left his house at 7.30am.

We arrived at Shepherd's Bush Empire at 9am.

We remained on the floor outside the venue for 10 hours, with interludes of me running to the toilet (my bladder fails me considerably when I am excited), finding noms and wandering up and down. I had a brief nap on Joe's shoulder but he thought it would be amusing to wait till I was asleep and then hit me in the face with a rolled up Kerrang. I returned the favour when he fell asleep with his head on my leg.

Some guys from a band called Ivy Rise were hanging out with us in the queue to promote themselves, so I took the opportunity to promote myself too and whored out my YouTube channel to them. I think they appreciated this as they told me to keep them informed of what I'm doing and they said they liked that I was a VLOGGER.

Some Spanish girls behind us and some Italian girls in front of us chain smoked all over us for 10 hours in the queue, start to finish. Therefore when, as we were entering the venue, the Spanish girl asked if she could go in front of us, Joe done an angry at her and said they were very direspectful. The Spanish girl then resorted to blowing a raspberry in his face. It was offensive to say the least.

Additionally, Joe told on some girls who pushed in to the security guard and they got sent to the back. Oh how we loled (':

We got into the venue at last and were FRONT BARRIER!!!!!!!!!!!! After two support acts Boys Like Girls came on and this is when words will start to fail me.

They were UNBELIEVABLE. Paul was BEAUTIFUL. They were just AMAZING. Paul handed Joe one of his picks. Martin saw that I wanted one but couldn't get one, so he gave me the mic stand to which Paul's picks were attached to and he told me to grab one. So I did. I also got one of Bryan's.

At the end of the concert, Boys Like Girls invited the fans onto the stage. I had been worried about this all day because jumping over barriers are hardly my forte in life. Joe hopped over and he turned round to help me. But nope, adrenaline kicked in and off I was over that barrier. I don't remember at all how I did. All I remember was knowing I had to do it. One minute I was in the crowd, the next minute I was on the stage, next to Joe and Paul DiGiovanni.

Then Joe and me shared the greatest hug known to mankind EVER.

And we went home.

It was perfect.

This does not count as a BEDA fail because I TRIED to post a blog for the 24th before midnight but I didn't have access to a computer and there was no 3G signal in Ben's back garden on anyones' phons.

Tonight was my friend Ben's 18th birthday party which was awesome :D It was a garden type BBQ party and it was so so so fun. I love how I'm still mega close to a few people from primary school, it's lovely xD

BEDA #23

This is one of my favourite poems of all time. I remember my mum reading it to me when I was around 4 and I always insisted on hearing it every single night. By the time I was 6 I knew it off by heart and have never forgotten it!

My mum says I'm her sugarplum.
My mum says I'm her lamb.
My mum says I'm completely perfect
Just the way I am.
My mum says I'm a super-special wonderful terrific little guy.
My mum just had another baby.
Why?

What's your favourite poem?

BEDA #17

I just got back from a party :D It was fun XD

It was near to my house and Scott (who lives opposite to me) decided to walk home. Except we didn't gauge that yes, it's near to our house in DAYLIGHT and WARM. But at 1.30am in April it is a LONG WAY. It's about 2 miles to be precise. But along a VERY BUSY SCARY road. One of those straight, motorway type ones. So to make the journey more FUN we skipped and sang songs. We deserved ASBOs to be quite honest. It was awesome :D

It has taken me a long time to write this blog because I have very little feeling in my still numb fingers. But HO HUM. I had an awesome evening. :D

BEDA #13

Today is a bad day.

When I'm feeling crap I do this horrible thing when I convince myself that people don't like me. I'm aware that lots of people don't but I convince myself that the people who I know do like me don't like me. And I make myself believe that I get in their way and that they are bored of me and that they wish I'd just go away. It's complete torture.

I hate today.

BEDA #11

I am not a very big fan of Lookbook.

Most of the people on there look the same. Some of the cliches I have noticed are shorts and those spotty, see through tights, legs so skinny that their thighs don't touch even when they stand up straight with their feet together, strange hats, many different floral prints on one outfit and belts. Lots of belts. I expect lots of people would argue that I should shut up because that is fashion and Lookbook is a fashion website, but I think it's a bit of a shame that fashion has become so narrow minded. It's not really self-expression if everyone's doing it. It's not showing your individuality if everyone looks the same. It's not creativity if you have copied other people. And that's just the clothing. Then there are the poses. Standing in a field looking slightly downwards. Leaning against a wall with one leg bent behind you. Hands in pockets looking into the distance. Bending forwards with your arms either side and your wrists flicking outwards. Or any combination of the aforementioned variables. It's all so generic!

As stated on the website, the goal of Lookbook is "To bring together diverse, aesthetically talented and open-minded people from around the world and showcase the best in international street fashion." There is so much irony in this aim and what is on the website. Absolutely, people from all around the world use it, which is definitely diverse. But visually, it's a very un-diverse collection of people. Their hair colour and eye shape and skin tones may differ, but how they present their bodies is very much similar. I also find it hard to gauge where open-mindedness comes in; Lookbook is an invite only website. I find it utterly discriminatory that you can only post your "Looks" on the website if someone else believes you qualify as aesthetically pleasing enough to receive an invitation. Surely this is the least open-minded system possible, as it obviously has some sort of pre-conception of the sorts of people they want on their site, else they'd be welcoming towards anybody.

I have nothing against the people on Lookbook; I have several friends on there, all of whom are unfairly attractive and fashion-concious. I just find it puzzling that a place for displaying individuality, personal expression and creativity is so nonspecific.

BEDA #10

The other day I posted a very cryptic blog.
Want it explained? No? Go away then (:

Let's start from the top. I want to be a TV presenter. It's my ultimate aim/aspiration/goal ETCETERA. The hardest thing about being passionate about a career in media is that it's very much reliant and dependent on who you know rather than what you know. I've been searching and hoping for some sort of experience into anything presenting related. On Wednesday afternoon I got a text from my friend Ross asking if I want to host a game show at his uni (a VERY well-reputed university for media) with him because they needed two presenters who knew eachother, male and female, last minute. And I was like HELLZ TO THE YEAH! So that was today. It was SO COOL! I was insanely nervous beforehand for a few reasons. I was worried that I'd be bad at it and I was worried that I wouldn't enjoy it and I was most worried that I'd love it but be bad at it and have to accept that it wasn't for me. I don't want to speak too soon as obviously I haven't seen the footage, but I think it went well! From peoples' reactions (two people were shocked to hear it was my first time presenting) I think I was okay! It was so amazing being in a studio, so so cool. We had microphones and a PODIUM and even a teleprompter/autocue machine! I was majorly psyched about that because I've always wanted to find out how using one of those is. I had heard that they're really hard but I didn't find it too bad really! And something else that I just found SO AWESOME was that at the end after we filmed the last link and the floor manager was like "Right, we're done", someone ACTUALLY said "That's a wrap." THEY ACTUALLY SAID IT!!! I thought people only said that on TV. So awesome xD

I'm so so so grateful for today :D I had an amazing time and can only hope there's many more of today's antics to come!!

BEDA #8

Today was absolutely beautiful!

Originally we were going to London but then Joe was ill so we called it off but then he felt better so we decided to do something after all. But we didn't want to do what we ALWAYS do in London (Covent Garden, Leicester Square, China Town etc) so we decided to have a whole day in London but go to places we've never been to before.

We started in Portobello Road and the market wasn't on but it really is a stunning area, so pretty and colourful! The weather was literally GLORIOUS, clear and sunny all day and it was actually hot! Joe was a sleeveless Joe :D Then, due to my extreme love of beigels (that's bagels to all you non-Jews and/or Americans :P) we went to Brick Lane. It wasn't a very nice area and we got unbelievably lost but it was such a laugh and we eventually found the Brick Lane Beigel Bake which was literally AWESOME! I've wanted to go there for so long and I'm so glad I got to go! The beigels were DELICIOUS, I had 2 smoked salmon and cream cheese ones (teehee) and I bought 12 plain ones and 2 onion platzels for my mum. And it was majorly cheap too. I think I will have another beigel in a minute.

So yes, it was yet another perfect day. (:

I'm in awe of how amazing these Easter holidays have been so far. I've had such a brilliant time and I've got so much more planned and they're not even half way through yet!

High on life :D

BEDA #7

Every now and again things happen to me that make me ask, "WHAT IS MY LIFE?!?!?!?!"
Some examples of these things include being in the VIP area for the Killers for free, meeting JK Rowling and receiving a MacBook on Christmas day.
Today I had another of these moments and I kind of don't think it's sunk in yet really! I don't want to DIVULGE in case it goes hideously TITS UP which I hope it won't but you never know, it could.

Basically something that I've been HOPING would happen for around 2 years now has been thrown in front of me. I was so INSANELY ecstatic when I heard, I was in the middle of a busy Primark and I practically did a song and dance right there and then. But it's WEIRD because what I realised today is that you can want something so desperately and hope so much that it can happen and then when it does you feel a bit like a deer in headlights. Because then you're like WOOOAHHH. Despite having this thing you want to do so much at the front of your brain for so long, you don't actually FULLY consider the extent of EVERYTHING it will entail. And suddenly the details are in front of you and you're thinking I'M NOT READY FOR THIS!!!! even though you know you've been making yourself ready for years, on the off chance that it would even happen at all. But it's going to happen :D It's not even a massive deal technically. But for me it's a massive deal because if I don't like it or even worse, it doesn't like me and I'm not good at it, I have to replan my life. Which I don't really want to have to do as I've been trying to get something like this for so long. Haaaa I don't think I could be more cryptic about this if I tried!! I'm so so so excited and so so so nervous and SO SO SO SO SO GRATEFUL for the person who got me this opportunity in the first place and I'm SO SO SO SO SO pleased that I'm not going into this by myself. And I hope SO SO SO SO much that I'm good at it and that I love it and that people don't think I'm rubbish. Quite a lot lies in Saturday. Eeeeeeep excitement (:

BEDA #6

Today was perfect.
You know when you're proper hyped up about something for ages in advance and despite being SO excited there's always a glimmer of worry that it won't live up to expectations? Yeah well that didn't happen XD

I went to the seaside with Joe (my best friend) and Megg (my amazing cousin) and we had such a lovely day :D We had lunch sitting on the beach and ice creams on the seafront and we went to the arcades and we went on the dodgems and we did RACING and we did bowling too :D And then we came back to mine for a big roasty dindins. Oh and we made an amazing dessert and drank Bailey's out of a ladle.

It was an amazing day (:

BEDA #5

I'm so so so so so excited to go to the seaside with my best friend and my cousin and my mum tomorrow :D

Today, I cleaned out my bedroom. Not, as Joe put it, "shoved everything underneath things", but actually CLEANED IT OUT. As in moved everything, emptied everything, hoovered, cleaned, organised and THEN reconstructed. I even moved my bed so that it's in a better feng-sui/zen position :D I feel all spring cleany.

Short blog today. Hope everyone's having a lovely April x

BEDA #4

There's more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done
There's far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
It's the Circle of Life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love
Till we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle
The Circle of Life

These are some of my favourite lyrics in the world. I'm really not one to get all DEEP about lyrics because I went through that phase when I was 15, you know when you listen to My Chemical Romance and go on about how the lyrics match your sad, pathetic existence perfectly. But the lyrics to The Circle of Life really do jump out at me. The reason for this is that I'm absolutely fanatical about wanting to see EVERYTHING. One of my biggest fears is that I won't be able to see everywhere and everything I want to see, from the Northern Lights to whales swimming in the wild to Mount Everest. I just want to experience each thing in the world that there is to experience. The Circle of Life lyrics are basically all about this, and about how the world is basically so huge, with so much on it. I love the idea of it being a circle because (and I'm not just saying this because I'm a big fan of "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry") but a circle has no beginning and no end. I think this is lovely because it always makes me think about how you know when you're really good friends with someone and you say that you can't remember what life was like before them and you can't imagine it without them; that's like a circle because you can't see where the beginning was or where the end will be. I think it's good to think of life as a circle because as far as I'm concerned, same as how you can't SENSE what you felt before you were born, you won't be able to sense after you die. So you've got to just do everything while you can. You have to feel every emotion there is; from despair to love. And at some point we find our place and realise what it is we want to do, and then we travel the circle, seeing and finding whatever possible as we go. That's what the song means to me.

BEDA #3

One of my favourite things ever is that one song can triggers SO many memories. You know how like when you link a song to a certain time or event? And every time you hear that song everything comes flooding back to you. Here are some of mine:

Larger Than Life, Backstreet Boys - Holiday to Texas in 2000 because that's the song that was playing during the Shamu show at the Sealift Centre in San Antonio.

I Write Sins Not Tragedies, Panic! At The Disco - English Extension Trip in 2007 because that was the song that EVERYONE was listening to back then and we had Panic!'s album on repeat all week.

Fat Lip, Sum 41 - ICT lessons 2008 because me and Joe were like obsessed with Sum 41 and I made it my aim to learn every single word to it including the rap bit at the end, which I did and then I used to sing it all the time to Joe just to prove that I could.

Everytime, Britney Spears - When me and Megg went to see her at Wembley in 2003 because she sat at the piano and seemingly started playing it and then she suddenly flew into the air on a harness and the piano carried on playing itself and me and Megg were majorly disappointed to find that Britney had no musical talent after all.

Mambo Number 5 - Year 6 Leaver's Disco in 2003 because me and my old best friend mum was called Jessica and when the part of the song that says "Jessica" came on my friend was like "THAT'S MY MUM'S NAME!!!" and we were both really excited by this.

Super Trouper, Abba - Greece 2009 because me and some of my amazing friends and Drama teachers made up a dance routine to it on the beach (':

Dawson's Geek, Busted - Primary school assemblies because when we were in year 6 we each got a turn to pick the song that played for a week in assembly and I picked that one.

Middle Eastern Holiday, Hard-Fi - Turkey 2006 because I was so psyched to be going to the Middle East that I listened to this song the whole way there.

Limassol, Maximo Park - October 2006 because we went to see them and it was our first standing gig and me and Sarah made up an awesome dance to this song.

Champagne Supernova, Oasis - Ski trip 2008 because I was listening to that album on repeat all the way home and every time I got to that song I woke up. I have no idea why.

New Shoes, Paolo Nutini - Christmas 2009 because on the last day of term some boys in the year above who had a band did a concert in the common room and they played that and everyone danced and at that moment I felt elated because I had amazing friends and I loved my school.

Way Back Into Love, Music and Lyrics - Ski trip 2008 because I met Pete and I watched this film for the first time and I loved it and it became my favourite film.

Stuck In America, Sugarcult - 2007 because a friend of mine called Karl got me into this band and this was the first song of theirs he sent me and me and Karl were really good friends back then and listening to that makes me miss him.

I Wish I Was A Girl, Violent Delight - 2006 because Alex sent me this song and we listened to it all the time because back then it seemed so hilarious (':

Albuquerque, Weird Al Yankovic - Camping 2006 with Eleanor because we all listened to this every night and sang it in the gazebo

My Love, Westlife - 2001 because me and Lucy used to spend every weekend at eachothers' houses and when we stayed at hers we used to sing this on her karaoke machine in her conservatory and we used to make up dance routines and put on concerts for her mum.

Skatman - Italy 2008 because this was the anthem for that trip.

Low, T-Pain - Italy 2008 as well because the whole group made up a dance together for this song and performed it in a dance off to another school at the last night disco.

Hey There Delilah, Plain White Ts - It reminds me of Eliot because this was our song for a long time and he changed the lyrics so it was about me xD

Thunder, Boys Like Girls - It reminds me of Joe because it's our song (:

Tell me yours? x

BEDA #2

I'm on my second blog of April in 3 hours :D

Whilst writing the last one I felt really depressed. Now I am really happy!

Three of my friends (Eliot, Jamie and Matt) just popped by for half an hour :D They arrived at 1.30 and left about 10 minutes ago. It cheered me up so much! They were just passing through my town on their way somewhere so I told them to come over and I'm so glad they did because it made a really nice start to the Easter holidays :D We had a Jewfood 2am midnight feast in my kitchen and now I'm in a good mood. I feel like that has set the tone for the next two weeks. Hopefully anyway!

I don't really have many plans for this weekend AS OF YET. Later (as in, Friday afternoon) I'm making a video that I've been planning for a few days now and on Saturday I MIGHT be having my first clubbing experience, but we'll have to see if I'm brave enough xD

Psyched for the next two weeks now (:

Blog Every Day in April #1

Happy BEDA everyone. For the past however long I've said I'll do this but then never actually do. But I'm going to this year, for real.

I'm in a horrible mood so it's a bad time to blog because I'm really tempted to totally spill about how much my feelings have been hurt and how I don't like so many people and how I hate today so so much. But I really don't want to do that.

The gullibility of people today has actually made me question the intelligence of the human race. I'm not being funny but I have always questioned everything before midday on April 1st because that's is the obvious and clever thing to do. But my uncle managed to convince several people that he's moving to Canada (including his own father), a girl in the year below's mum believed that her daughter's best friend was pregnant and there was a news story about rocket launchers for car recovery people's shoes so that they can get there quicker and the public BELIEVED THIS. Seriously. What the hell. And in the common room at school today everyone just took it too far. The first prank pulled was funny because every piece of furniture was moved from one room. And it was kinda funny when the head of sixth form's office was police taped up. But then when each joke got taken further and further it just isn't funny. So many people will HAH BUMHUG me for saying that, but seriously, have we got to the point in our evolution when the only way we can get a few laughs is by telling the head teacher she has a detention? Honestly. Knowing my luck someone who had a part in that prank will read this so I would just like to disclaim myself here by saying that I'm sure if I actually liked school I would have found it funny. But the fact of the matter (for me) is that school is a place to do my work, get my grades and get out of. It bothers me that it has to be merged with all these (for me, pointless) frivolities that just take up time.

I'm not a happy Jocy today.. Any other day I'm sure that would have amused me. But today, no. Luckily today is over in 36 minutes.
The upside of hating school so much is that I now look forward to work. For the main reason that it's not school.

Two months left.
